Week 38.

This term is spinning me out ... literally. First we learnt the turn in Bolero (see week 37) and now we learn a turn for Lambada.

At dance parties I have marvelled at the more experienced dancer stylishly dancing the beautiful Lambada with spins and turns. Up until this point I was only able to step on the spot or "wave" from front to back. Now in week 38 at last we learn our first Lambada turn.

Previous I have watched and others and tried to mimic their actions but, owing to an overdose of Salsa bought about by an addiction to Rueda, I always break into a Salsa step. The trick is stepping onto the right foot (literally) to keep that distinctive Lambada action. Now the whole thing makes sense and I feel like I can really dance the Lambada. In one class (a very big class might I add) my most feared dance had become fun and for a change I actually felt good dancing it.

Of course all the credit goes to Tenny* for explaining it so well (even though he did get his left and right mixed up again) and for picking such great Lambada songs. Tenny if you are reading this, please e-mail me the Songs you played so I might add them to my rapidly growing list of favourites.

* Actually some credit goes to the Andrea and "the Family" for forcing me practice Lambada.
