Rueda 101 - for dummies and uncos (uncoordinated people)..
I thought last week was full on - this week we learned five new calls. My head and feet are not talking to each other and its all a bit like playing ring-a-rosie rather than rueda. I usually end up running to my next partner or worse yet end up with two partners not knowing which one I am supposed to pick up.
Fortunately all of the moves are variations of the " Encuhufla ". By the end of the hour-long class I have started to get the hang of the basics - managing on at least two occasions to pick the correct combination of steps to match the calls. As students we are encouraged to have turns in calling the moves. This week John was brave enough to have a go - next week I might pluck up the courage - at least that way I will have a better idea of what is coming. I have been practicing the calls and the combinations of steps and even joined in a Rueda circle at the dance party on Saturday night.
Calls this class were -
Encuhufla, Enchufla doble, Pelota, Pelota doble, Castigala.
This week was a rest week - so no more Rueda until Saturday the 3rd of August.
I still think I need a tutor.
