Week 9 - Still haven't found either of my two RioRhythmics membership cards. Work sent me off to Roma for a week so I had to attend the Friday night class instead of my usual Wednesday. Wednesday is my preferred class as I am not too tired from the working week. Also, if I go to the dance party on Saturday there is not too much time between dances - this I find prevents from hips for seizing up (caused by sitting on my arse too much).

This week I spent 20 something dollars of my hard-earned cash to buy the official RioRhythmics dance CD. I have taped it and play it in the cars as I drive to and from jobs. I have no idea what they are singing but I try to sing along anyway. At the end of this course I might not be able to dance but at least I will know a few words of Spanish or Portuguese.

This week we learnt a fancy little salsa step. We stepped forward on the left and back on the right and again back on the left ... no wait ... now I am getting up from the keyboard and trying to recount the steps. Hmmm … think I will be going to one of those extra classes next week. Basically it is a Salsa step back and forth only turning you partner on the back step - it probably has a name but I don’t recall it. Gee … I hope there is not going to be a test at the end of this term.

Guedo made us dance the part of the girl. It is supposed to make us better leaders but it confuses the hell out of me. I can't even get the arm placements in the dance stance correct. Some of the girls have said following is easy but I think I would rather lead any day. Anyway all that spinning makes me dizzy and I get out of step with the music.

Guedo is great as he asks everyone's name and by the end of the class he is addressing everyone by their first name. This is a good thing until you get sprung for talking in class when you should be listening. Both times I got caught it was my partners fault, not mine. Those girls are always getting me into trouble.

A couple I know through scuba diving also dance on Friday nights. Kylie and Wayne are very good - but then I suppose they get to practice with each other all the time. What I need is a practice buddy. Think I will put an ad in the personals - 30 something male seeking partner for dance practice.
