Sisterhood of Our Lady of Protection

The Sisterhood was established in St Andrew's parish on 1st July, 1973 through the initiative of Fr Ivan Szewciw who remained their curator until his retirement on 3rd May, 1995 whereupon Fr Zenon Chorkawyj, current Parish Priest at St Andrew's, took over the role of curator of the Sisterhood.

The aims of the Sisterhood were:

  • The preservation and nurturing of Ukrainian religious and national traditions.
  • Collaboration with the parish Brotherhood in organising Parish functions.
  • Involvement in charitable works at the parish level as well as meeting the needs of fellow Ukrainians in Ukraine and abroad.
  • Supporting spiritually, morally and financially Ukrainians in need around the world.
  • Providing aid to the poor of the world.
