The Software

UPDATE JULY 2005:
 OS: Windows XP Pro.

 Front End: MaLa (Mame Launcher)
I Think this is excellent Mame FE for a MAME Cocktail table. It has many rotation/ control options as well as some sexy features. They also had a 'Skin' to make it look just like the Gamelauncher FE

I have also loaded some Boot Screens:

1) Bios Boot                                   2) Windows Boot Screen           Windows Wallpaper

1) The Gigabyte K7 Triton GA-7N400-L allows you to load a Bios start-up screen using software supplied called: Face Wizard

2) Using a Program called  you can substitute the default boot Windows XP boot screen with a custom one of your choosing.

UPDATE September 2002:

I decided to Change My Set-up to:

OS: Windows 2000
Front End:  Game Launcher

I found that using Win 2000 I was able to take full advantage of the Hardware I have...DOS has very basic drivers, especially for the newer Sound Cards.

Below is the old set-up I started with in 2001:

OS: Win 98 DOS mode .(close enough to Dos 6.22).
On boot the Operating System goes straight to Dos (not windows). This was achieved by modifying the line in MSDOS.SYS. Change the line 'BootGUI=1' to 'BootGUI=0'. Booting straight to DOS is not so simple in WindowsME hence the decision to load Win98. Note you may need
csdpmi5b.zip to enable MAME to work correctly in Dos.
The downside to running in Dos is you have to obtain the Dos soundcard drivers to enable you to have sound. I found these hidden away on my Soundcard CD-ROM. I managed to also find some Mouse drivers, although I really didn't need to load them to use ArcadeOS.
Good old system files 'AUTOEXC.BAT' and 'CONFIG.SYS' had to be modified to load mouse / sound drivers and also to the point Dos to my MENU batch file. At the Menu you have the Option of launching ArcadeOS (for games) or Windows 98 (for Internet/ maintenance). I have put hotlinks on all the above mentioned files for your downloading pleasure. Another group of lines was added to the MENU.BAT file to shutdown the ATX computer after use.

Start-up- Screen

Emulator: MAME v0.60

Mame Front End: ArcadeOS 2.47...Takes a while to get used to the Menus. But it's very powerful. Once you have mastered it...... it's then a case of  'set and forget'. The major advantage for using this MAME Front-end is you can have the selection screen orientated vertically and all selections can be made using the Joystick and the player buttons. This meant I could hide the old keyboard away.
Windows front End Arcade@home ....I use this for testing only. It's a great Windows front end, but not really suitable for a Cocktail Arcade Controls with the monitor mounted vertically.

MP3 Muzac??? - I'm thinking about loading on a Arcade MP3 Player for a Jukebox as well
(Well there is still a bit of room on the HD)
