Welcome to the ‘Educational Thread”
of the Artspun website. This link shadows the main site offering a ‘learning approach’ to viewing artwork by Alan Tulloch. Each page in the ‘Educational Thread’ has a link that takes the visitor
back to the main program.‘New to Art’ visitors are advised that discussion about the artwork in this thread is limited to developing ‘starter understandings’.
If words were sufficient for understanding visual art, there would be no need for visual art. Teaching text in the ‘Educational Thread” will be purple. This artwork is a “transgressive act” because traditional brushes were
not used. It is ‘breaking normal art rules. The artwork was created by the use of a ‘cotton wick’ which fed colour onto the paper by capillary action. It is quite different to traditional watercolours which have a lot more
‘purposeful activiaty’ in the picture. Some could almost think that nothing is happening in the artwork because it is ‘so simple’.This watercolour is part of the “Pool” series using the watercolour in a non-traditional way. |
