The text that is part of “Loom”is not simply removed from the land, even though it is suspended in the wire.
Though there is an appropriateness to have the text hovering above the land, the casting of the texts’ shadows reinforces the idea of how people
often try to control the land with language.The classic downgrading term, ‘bush’, is now close to most people’s hearts,
but initially the word was infused with disregard, giving license to clear and plant ‘better’ vegetation. |
