”Crescent” - Branches, Chicken Wire, Wire, Paper, TV Set                            2000
(with dark parts drawn in situ)

[Home] [Works-to-be] [Sportworks] [Fire Sculpture] [The Latest]

This may be the first and last fire sculpture by Alan Tulloch.
The magnitude of the fire prompted normal conscience to not create excess fires for the planet in the future.
To mark the rattling of numbers to call a certain point of time to be a change from one century and one millenium to new ones, this sculpture/
performance occurred on Dec 31 1999 / Jan 1 2000.
It was a combination of old (fire) and new (TV counting down the end of a millenium) illuminations.
Three runners acted as wicks to light up a showering crescent of elevated branches.
As the crescent burned with its ‘natural’ rhythms, a TV set beamed the slick blue of new technology.
